The Multidisciplinary Research Centre is a research team that has the purpose of studying
and popularising exointelligence, a discipline dealing with the search for intelligence in the
Cosmos.
Furthermore, it offers itself as an active point of reference for the exchange of information
between institutions and public and private bodies that have interests in the same sphere.
Exointelligence is a discipline of near future. It's currently highlighted and documented by this research. In particular it studies the possibility that forms of intelligence also exist outside of our planet. To do this, it uses knowledge from psychopedagogy, remote satellite sensing, visual art, information technology, semiology, archaeology, astronomy, biology, geology, theology and the neurosciences. Starting from the study of terrestrial intelligence (human, animal and artificial), exointelligence extends its gaze to the planets of the solar system and, specifically, searches for finds that may represent signs of extraterrestrial intelligence.
This plate proposed by the scientist Carl Sagan to
NASA for the Pioneer 10 and 11 missions (1972 and
1973) represents a find of terrestrial intelligence.
The plate was developed with a scientific language
and with an artistic language.
The find, made of aluminium anodised with gold,
contains a cultural and intelligent message.
If we have behaved in this intelligent way, can we rule out the possibility that other
intelligences, in the distant past, may have behaved in a similar way?
In particular looking for finds of a technological and artistic character may represent a new
methodology for discovering exointelligence.
Those people who try to respond rationally to the questions that all human beings ask
themselves: “who are we?” and “where do we come from?”
Those people who, without taboos, consider themselves free from all prejudice with regard
to creationism and Darwinism.
Those people who are able to express constructive criticism without
insulting or deriding those who think differently.
Those people who are available to verify the sources of finds discovered.
